We have been spoiled with a “heat wave” this week here in Minnesota and Wisconsin, and with this beautiful weather it is easy to question … What exactly should I be wearing this time of year?
Maybe you’ve noticed retailers are pushing Spring right now as jackets are on sale, sweaters are nowhere to be found, and snow boots have been pushed to the clearance racks. Well, we have 5 tips below to help you navigate the changing of the seasons while staying on trend and weather appropriate.
Show your ankles.
But it’s Winter, shouldn’t I be in boots? No, let those ankles breathe! Maybe they are a little pale, but who cares! Trust me when I tell you this little gesture will trick your brain into thinking it’s a balmy 75 degrees. Throw on a pair of sneakers, give your jeans a little roll, and pair with a cozy sweater to keep you warm!
Lose the coat.
There are just too many non-coat options out there to force yourself to wear your bulky winter coat in this 40-degree weather. It is all about the layers. Pair a cozy sweater with a wool wrap or fun poncho and you’ll be free from carrying around all that extra bulk.
Try mixing in light Spring materials with your heavy Winter wear. You can do this by adding your favorite spring blouse under a winter sweater. Add a bright necklace to your Winter grey ensemble. Try a light-weight scarf with your Winter blazer.
Wear that distressed denim.
Sporting distressed denim with your winter wear is a great way to add texture to your outfit. Plus, distressed denim is too fun and comfy to put away for half the year. Pair it with heels and a blouse for date night or with your favorite flannel and sneakers!
Transition to light sweaters.
Now is a great time of year to add some light sweaters to your wardrobe. Aren’t you sick of the thick wool sweaters you’ve been sporting for months now? I sure am! Again, layers are key and putting a light sweater under a vest or jacket will keep you warm and bring you straight to Spring.
